Why is this artist indie?
Before she sang her breakout song '1234' in that iPod commercial, Leslie Feist was the indie music scene's 'it' girl. She may be a 'new' artist to everyone else, but her music career started back in the late 90's performing with Canadian indie bands By Divine Right and Broken Social Scene. With a new wave coming in of putting 'indie' to the mainstream, Feist is in the forefront - being one of the few prominently recognized indie artists to truly break out into the Top 40 pop charts.
