Why is this artist indie?

The band started out when lead singer and composer, Emanuel Lundgren, wrote several songs and gathered his friends to record them. A self released EP was completed and a one-time live show featuring all 29 band members was performed in August 2005. They has since then released albums via EMI Sweden, Dolores Recordings and Mute Records
