Video of the Week: Dan by Grovesnor

Our video of the week comes from Grovesnor, who's also known as Hot Chip drummer Rob Smoughton. As Grovesnor, he describes himself as a troubadour who looks like a teacher but sings like Usher.

Dan, plays out like a nice rom-com from a few years back that you missed out seeing, with music that  sounds like it came for the era of 80's adult contemporary smooth rock (whatever the heck that is). Somehow, the music sort of reminds me of Steely Dan - just because it's named Dan and Steely Dan is also the sort of thing that you might probably find on an adult contemporary smooth rock radio station.

Gerald from the Peep Show does a cameo, as well as Smithy from Gavin and Stacy.

As a plus, we've also got a few downloads available from Grovesnor's debut album Soft Return after the jump -

Free Tracks from Ten Free Albums

It's a little bit too early for a Lyric of the Day recap and too soon for an album art post - but it is way overdue for a song list.

I haven't had time to sort through my emails in the last few weeks, so Fresh from the Post might have to wait a while. What I had time for though, was to browse through the Free Album download section on Amazon . I am admittedly, a sucker for free stuff. Of course, I know you guys are too because, what other reason would you be lurking on this site for, hmmm?

So, for all you freebie-aholics out there, right after the jump is a mid-week wrap up of some select songs from Amazon's 2010 Free Indie Label Samplers.

You can check out the full tracklisting for each album by heading over to the Amazon site via  the album covers I've lined up here. You can also continue below to whet your ears to the select tunes. Sadly, if you go to Amazon they want to you to have a US address before you can give it a go and download, but that has never stopped me yet ;) Which reminds me, eMusic, I am still bitter that you won't let me download Rural Alberta Advantage's Hometowns. As a Canadian I think I have the right to do so. On that note, I think this would be more significantly ironic if I was a Canadian living in rural Alberta.

Damn those international copyright laws.

Album Art plus Lyrics : Always land butter side up

Is it that time of the month already? No, but it is time for your Album Art + Lyric of the Day recap. Trust me, this'll be nice.

As always, you can click through to find out more about the artists we've featured on Lyric of the Day. There's also the lyric roundup after the jump ;)

album And to those of you who moan your lives through one day to the next, well, let them take you next. Can't you live and be thankful you're here? See it could be you tomorrow, next year.
